As education plays a major role in our health and general well-being, Equitable Medicine had reached out to the Philadelphia School District to gain perspective from teachers. With the recent George Floyd protests, many individuals in education believe that change begins with our youth. Equitable Medicine released a survey to the teaching staff of the Philadelphia School District entitled: African American Students in Schools. The survey inquired about African American student performance and general concerns teachers may have regarding their students. From the survey results, it seems as if teachers are concerned with the mental health of their students. In the upcoming week, Equitable Medicine intends to hold a virtual Zoom meeting to discuss changes that can be made within the school system to create a more welcoming and understanding environment for African American students.
